Field Notes

Description:

A small case bearing beetle about 4 mm long with black metallic elytra and an equally shiny copper coloured prothorax. Both elytra and thorax were heavily pitted. A small head supported large eyes and long straight antennae. The first pair of legs appeared to have slightly thick femora. The underside of the beetle had short stiff white hairs giving it a grey appearance.

Habitat:

Spotted on a eucalyptus tree - grey box - suburban garden.
