Field Notes

Description:

A small weevil about 7 mm long with body covered with setae of varying colours of brown. Elytra had tufts of setae giving the weevil a knobbly appearance. Two lateral pale patches seen on the elytra and pale patch near the elytral apices. The rostrum was straight, antennae were bent and clubbed.
There were several on this tree and some slightly smaller ( probably female) as seen in pic 5- stuck close to the leaf axil.

Habitat:

Spotted on a eucalyptus tree - grey box in a suburban garden.

Notes:

These weevils are said to feed on many native trees including eucalypts.
The weevils were very active making it difficult to get good shots of them.
