Watermelon Berry

You could see the differing stages of ripeness on this plant, with the ripest berries being a deep red color. In the third photo, you can see why this plant gets its alternative name "twisted stalk," but it is also interesting to see that the leaves grow at the point where the stalk switches directions. Another interesting thing about this plant is the fact that each flower (and therefore each berry) grows from a small stem that is attached to the underside of a leaf.
