Field Notes

Description:

Brownish/black-winged butterfly with many yellow spots, about 5-6 cm length of wings.

Habitat:

This butterfly was found atop some flower blossoms on a bush in a side alley, in the middle of old town Chiang Mai.

Notes:

Perhaps at a different time of day I would have said the wings were just black(ish), but these pictures were taken around noon, with the most intense sunlight bearing down (and through) the wings, giving them a somewhat brownish appearance.
