Description:

This is a small common butterfly species that has orange wings with black markings.The butterfly had a wingspan of 30-35 mm. and a length of 20 mm.The backside has orange and black with the hind wing having white. Males like this one usually have black antenna knobs. It was feeding on wild flowers on a sunny day.

Habitat:

Semi-urban, Fort Worth, Texas,

Notes:

It is found in all parts of the United States except the west coast, and throughout Mexico and parts of southern Canada, in particular Ontario.This form had lots of white on the back of the hind wings.
