Pearce's Blue-eyed Grass is a dwarf perennial with pale lemon yellow flower cups with dark brownish stripes inside the throat above narrow, iris like leaves. <br>
Belongs to the Iridaceae family. <br>
Native of montane meadows in southern Chile. Fully winter hardy in a protected, sunny spot in any rich, well drained soil in a sunny spot. In colder climates give plants some additional winter protection (e.g. a dry mulch layer). IV-V.

Habitat según la elevación:<br>
Elevación alta (cerca del límite del bosque), (la elevación absoluta depende de la latitud).<br>
Este ejemplar en particular estaba justo sobre el limite del bosque (como muestra la foto satelital)

Condiciones de agua:<br>
Secano, donde el período sin precipitaciones dura 3 - 5 meses. Las precipitaciones alcanzan 400 - 800 mm anuales, concentrándose en invierno.<br>
Areas con constantes precipitaciones. períodos secos cortos son posibles, pero no duran más de 1 mes.

Condiciones de luz:<br>
Expuesto. Pleno sol sin ninguna protección. Partes planas o laderas de exposición norte.<br>

In Chile this species grows in the following environmental conditions:<br>
Habitat according to altitude:<br>
High altitude close to the timber line (this specimen was just above the treeline, as the satellite image shows)
<br>
Watering conditions:
<br>
Somewhat dry areas where the drought may last 3 - 5 months. Precipitations of 400 - 800 mm. are concentrated in winter.
Humid areas, with almost constant rainfall. Short dry periods are possible (generally not longer than 1 month).

Light conditions:<br>

Fully exposed to the sun. Level areas or slopes facing north.
