Field Notes

Description:

A very small pale brown moth about 8mm in length. Both fore wings were tented; the costal margins sweeping down and up. There was a dark (blue-black) semicircular patches on both fore wings which together, when the the moth was at rest, looked like a large dark circle with a mottled central patch. The thorax, on the dorsal side, seemed to have a small circular patch. The apex of the wings were pointed. The moth had long antennae.

Notes:

This little moth was spotted on a wall inside the house.
My photographs do not illustrate this well however, the patch on the wings looks like the face of a dog with longish ears - see web reference. This gives the moth it's common name. Got an ID at last !!!
This moth belongs to Family Tortricidae
