Description:

The dorsal scales vary in color from green or greenish to light brown, in which case the species may be discriminated from other congeners by small size (≤4mm) and pronotum shape

Habitat:

Semi rural.

Notes:

Found this teeny tiny guy (about 2 mm long - see last photo for size comparison with a penny) in our bathtub last night!

This is missing the fibial spurs on the forelegs, so not a boll weevil. Looks like Hypera sp.
Yes really tiny annmarie, which is why I took the comparison shot with the penny! I couldn't tell what it was with the naked eye.
2mm? wow that is tiny! nice close up, makes a pest seem harmless!
In our bathtub at 2 o'clock this morning! Of course, having noticed it I couldn't get back to sleep & just had to go get my camera!

I think they look cool too - just like a cartoon character! The are a serious agricultural pest though.
really small. Good thing for the comparison. They are cool looking. I haven't seen one in person yet.
