Description:
A segmented black larva with dense golden setae that madoe it look a little furry. The three thoracic segments had well developed legs. The last abdominal segment had a pair of pseudocerci (Urogomphi).
Habitat:
A solitary larva spotted clinging to a blade of grass in open grasslands - eucalypts and wattle near by.
Notes:
While Dermestid beetles feed on flowers and shrubs, their larvae are extremely destructive feeding on any natural fibre, usually dry organic substances that other creatures find difficult to ingest. They are also known to eat substances like chocolate, cocoa and copra dessicated coconut). They have helped in forensic investigations where they are found on dry skeletal remains. <br>
I am not able to ID this larva but will keep looking. <br>
