Ok. While you think about this one, you can play with the white one! :-D
I am not the master but I have some doubts about Proteus and a definitive ID...
Definitely Urbanus sp. however even with my books I would probably not be able to get to a definite species since they are all very similar. My candidates: Urbanus belli: /butterfliesofamerica.com/urbanus_belli.htm Urbanus esta: http://butterfliesofamerica.com/urbanus_esta.htm Urbanus esma: http://butterfliesofamerica.com/urbanus_esma.htm Urbanus pronus: http://butterfliesofamerica.com/urbanus_pronus.htm Urbanus pronta: http://butterfliesofamerica.com/urbanus_pronta.htm Personally I don't think it is Proteus: This one should have some additional little spots on the forewing and should have some white stripe on the hindwing (see #2 next to the dark tail): http://butterfliesofamerica.com/imagehtmls/Eudaminae/Urbanus_p_proteus_John_D_McArthur_St_Pk_Palm_Beach_County_FL_USA_11-21-07_012_i.htm http://butterfliesofamerica.com/imagehtmls/Eudaminae/Urbanus_p_proteus_M_Ruta_175_Road_San_Martin_Soyolapan_OAX_MX_15-26-VIII-07_i.htm http://butterfliesofamerica.com/imagehtmls/Eudaminae/Urbanus_proteus_Mission_Hildalgo_Co_TX_USA__7-XII-04_i.htm
