Field Notes

Description:

Hemiptera; Derbidae; Proutista moesta (Westwood, 1896). I had never seen a Proutista moesta until 30th. Sept., last year and since I have lived here for more than 20 years, I considered that it might be a very long time before I would see another. However, I spotted a second specimen just two weeks ago and now, today, a third one has presented itself in our backyard. So, I think it is reasonable to assume that this little hopper will visit us from time to time.

Habitat:

Spotted in our backyard, on an Acai Palm Tree sapling, growing beside a group of Banana Plants.
