Description:

mostly medium to large birds the head, neck, and underparts are white the short bills are yellow with a dark ring. they are very resourceful and intelligent birds. they have harsh wailing or squawking calls. they also have prophylactic unhinging jaws that allow them to consume large prey.

Habitat:

lakes, rivers, or the coast in Canada and the northern united states. they migrate and most move to gulf of Mexico and Atlantic and pacific coast. they use their flight to pick up food while swimming walking or wading. they are omnivores their diet consist of fish, insects, eggs, earthworms, and rodents. their natural enemies are rats, raccoons, dogs, hawks,coyotes, foxes, cats and eagles.
