Field Notes

Description:

small bird with grey back, black head and a call that sounds something like it's name. They are more common around human habitation, whereas the lookalike the chestnut backed is rarely seen in the suburbs

Habitat:

At my feeder amid mixed species forest

Notes:

There are close to 30 chestnut backs for every black capped here. But at the city feeders, rarely do we see chestnuts
