Description:

The Ring-necked Duck has a tall head and sharp peak on the rear crown. The male has the black and white spur. The female has a faint pale spur on the side and gray cheeks. Additionally, the female has white eye-rings and a gray wing-stripe. The white outline on the bill of the male helped compare the Ring-necked with Scaup.
