If you would have checked any list of birds for your state, you would have seen that whooping cranes have never been documented in the state. Even if you put that aside, whooping cranes have red on the head and are much thicker bodied. This is the very common great egret as has been suggested for you, please correct your spotting. Thanks.
Nice photo. Could you please tell us something about the spotting -e.g. where you saw the crane, etc. Could you also look-up the scientific name and edit your spotting to show it. Thanks.
