Incredible anthropod. It must be a very powerful camouflage out there in the wild
Congratulations Rachelle, this awesome spotting is featured in the Project Noah today, which is on "Masters of Disguise"! http://blog.projectnoah.org/post/29901816272/masters-of-disguise
This is one of the coolest katydids I have ever seen!
Fantastic - it does look like lichen - congratulations !!
Please, update your other IDs...
Congrats! A wonderful and amazing creature!
This is a well deserved spotting of the day!
This master of mimicry has been selected as Spotting of the Day! Congratulations Rachelle! "One of the wildest examples of camouflage we've seen yet! This lichen-mimicking katydid blends in masterfully with the trees and rocks it climbs." WOW - thanks for sharing this with us!
Wow Amazing legs!
It took some collaboration, but it looks like an ID has emerged which I've added above. Such an incredible little insect. Thanks to BrazilianGamer and Funkentelechy from the Whatsthisbug subreddit. http://www.reddit.com/r/whatsthisbug/comments/qgfmh/incredible_camouflage_found_in_panama_any_ideas/
It is a grasshopper. Maybe related to this: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/8489120
Oh my goodness... that is amazing. Let's name it.
This really is a wow spotting!
This is incredible, it sould be spotting of the day
Everyone else has already said wow...but WOW! What a cool bug!!
Oh My!! Now that's a camo'ed bug!! Nice spotting!! :)
Wow, how cool! Looks like it probably could hang easily on an evergreen bush and never be seen. You could add it to the mimetic animals mission at http://www.projectnoah.org/missions/8015991
That's unbelievable...I had to look twice on the thumbnail...looks like it is mimicing a reindeer-moss!
Oh wow if I hadn't clicked on it I would have thought it was moss...great camo for a bug!
That's definitely my favorite spotting of the day (so far)!
