Description:

This insect looks like some kind of wasp but I don't think it is. It was spotted in a drying creek bed drinking water.

Habitat:

Tropical dry forest in NW Costa Rica 4 months into the 6 month dry season

none of those wasps matched this one on the link you sent. apart from other obvious reasons this one has a whip tail whereas none of the link wasps have one. maybe this is a mimic?
