Description:

This butterfly measure about 1" round.

Habitat:

Tropical dry forest in NW Costa Rica 4 months into the 6 month dry season

Nymphalidae, Nymphalinae, Melitaeini, Anthanassa sp., taxonomy is a little bit confusing. Formerly called Phyciodes sp., I think it is Anthanbassa frisia tulcis (Anthanassa frisia would be the Cuban Crescent and is found all over the neotropics) and there is also an Anthanassa tulcis/Phyciodes tulcis. I will check the actual name.
