Description:

Dark red crested gecko playing with the camera and showing off his eyes.

Habitat:

These geckos are native to southern New Caledonia and are now sold as pets although they were an endangered species even thought to have been extinct until they were rediscovered in 1994 after a tropical storm. Small hairs called setae help them climb and stick to surfaces.
