Description:

A medium-sized raptor of open grasslands and savannas, the White-tailed Kite is readily identified by its bright plumage and its habit of hovering while hunting for small mammals

Habitat:

San Francisco Bay wetlands, salt marsh and grasslands

Notes:

It is so interesting to watch the feeding behavior of kites, as they hover over an area and then drop down on their prey.

It also helps to have a great lens and not breathe very often, a bit challenging at times.
