Description:

22mm length; similar looking to wasp; all body parts black and smooth; clear veined wings with dark patches at tips containing a single clear spot

Habitat:

Notes:

We were always told these were a fruit fly as kids. They can be very abundant when around. I am now amazed to find they are native to Tas, Vic & NSW in Australia but somebody has taken it to Calif.USA !!

NZ has acquired it also http://www.terrain.net.nz/friends-of-te-henui-group/local-flies/garden-…
