Description:

Silver-greyish, slightly violet crust fungus with a bright white seam (likely a stereum) on mossy deadwood. Marshy region.

Very nice, Lars ! the bright white edges look so crisp and clean. I can see that it's similar to my spotting that you identified for me. Just didn't understand the "hirsutum" bit - it's not furry - maybe because of the velvety texture ??
Thanks, Argybee. There's another, larger problem with Stereum (crust fungi) species than confusing them with lichens - every third, maybe second identified Turkey Tail is actually a Stereum (in most cases a stereum hirsutum)
Excellent Lars. I would have taken these for lichen but now we have learned more.
