Field Notes

Description:

Large coppery-colored frog with dark band across the eye. The sides are more red than the legs from what you can see when they are just sitting. This one was 5 or 6 inches long.

Habitat:

Coastal temperate rainforest, among the grass and the leaves they look just like.

Notes:

The last couple weeks or so they've been more noticeable hopping around; maybe 'froggy's gone a'courting". The long hot, dry summer this year is finally getting cooler and wetter, bringing them out.
