Field Notes

Description:

Small, red-stemmed plant with green leaves with two points. There are tiny white flowers in the middle. This looks like a species of Miner's Lettuce.

Habitat:

Hillside in partial shade along trail at Blue Sky Ecological Reserve

With what i have seen , i would say that this is miners lettuce.

there is a funnel . Not as deep as in this picture. Though. Also even though it is not a perfect pentagon or circle, the leaves do have five sides.

Also it is as deep as a funnel, almost. I will observe those leaves and let you know.

I'm thinking this is just a young plant since the flowers aren't bloomed yet and it's so small. The leaves range from red to green. There was Miner's Lettuce nearby but this was part of a large cluster in this one area.

Cindy,when ever i have spotted miners lettuce, a stem always grows from the centre. These do not have a stem growing from the centre. Just my observations.

I have seen miners lettuce so many times, it still is a little hard for me to say that this is miners. There is a strong resemblance! i will go out and look at mine again and let you know.
