Description:

I see alligators on every trip to the cypress slough. I see this one so often I have named it "Spot", for the spot on its tail. This juvenile is about 2 1/2 feet long.

Habitat:

Freshwater

Notes:

No shortage of alligators in the slough...

The Scientific name of the American alligator is Alligator mississippiensis. Please add that to your spotting in the space provided for Scientific name. Thanks
nice...I got one similar to yours on the first shot...it was approaching me slowly from the middle of the river and got ashore before I start running while my husband was in the car yelling and honking...I was naive to think this gator is not going to have me for lunch which my husbad said it was licking its chops looking at me! http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/10020965
