Field Notes

Description:

A butterfly resting upside down.
Black wings with white patterns.
Brown eyes, white legs, yellow proboscis and black antennas with orange tips.
Size: body length about 2 cm.

Habitat:

Kundasang highlands, Sabah.

Notes:

I'm not sure whether this butterfly is an Euthalia or Tanaecia species (or maybe other genus).

Thanks NuwanChathuranga and Argybee. I have tried a quick search on some possible Tanaecia and Euthalia species. Sorry guys (and girls) no luck so far, too many species listed on EOL, many look-alike and little results on the internet. Chances for this one to be a new species is also very slim because Lepidoptera insects in Kinabalu park are well-studied. I will continue my ID search here http://www.mothsofborneo.com/author.htm
