Description:

The species name "sylvatica," meaning "of the woods" is very fitting, as these trees were found in a forested swampland less than a kilometer from the ocean. These trees are quite rare and habitat-specific in Maine.

Habitat:

Forested swampland at Ferry Beach State Park.
