Description:

Exceedingly large, black and gray, traveled with 2-3 other humpbacks. Surrounded by sea lions.

Off the coast of Monterey California

It has been a very good year to see the humpbacks from the CA Hwy1. I was there two weeks ago and we also saw several in the distance. Apparently this year less of them migrated to Hawaii. It may have something to do with the El Niño current and perhaps more plancton near the CA coast. Precious spotting!
