Sessile Earthstar

description
Sporophore closed bulb to onion-shaped, with 6-10 converted rolled downward skid, 2-4 cm diameter. Bottom of batting, brownish cream, with adhering soil. Inside white or light cream to light brown. Sphere Ø 6-18 mm, sessile, conical, gewimperde opening, smooth, white to pale brownish gray or brown.

habitat
On sandy or clay or loamy soils in coniferous forests (spruce, pine), sometimes in deciduous forests, (dune) thickets, parks and avenues.
Saprophyte.
