Field Notes

Description:

A slender plant about 24 cms tall with about three bracts. The flowers were green with purplish red filamentous beard-like growth. The two petals (lateral) had distinct red stripes. The outer surface of the sepals were the same deep red colour.
Leaves were single folded, erect with a slight red base (pic 5)

Habitat:

Spotted in a mixed wet and dry sclerophyll forest dominated by silver stringy bark.
An Australian and New Zealand native.

Notes:

These orchids are protected. <br>
