Field Notes

Description:

14mm long; very hairy especially at front legs and face; pale pinkish-cream

Habitat:

backed into the curled corner of a lily leaf

Notes:

Camera flash has flattened the colour.
It was pinker looking in normal light
This is probably a juvenile.

Yes I thought of your chocolate spider when I found this one. The google image results show amazing variation in both colour and even abdomen shapes.
I would think this is a female. They usually build a web each night and eat it in the morning, especially if it has taken some damage. I believe this is the male http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/8933379 but I suspect a complex range of variations for these garden orbs.
