Field Notes

Description:

Family: Erebidae, Subfamily: Arctiinae, Tribe: Arctiini. (Tiger Moth). Common. Length: 20-28 mm. Peppery cream-colored FW boldly marked with irregular bands of semi-translucent spots between brown veins. Thorax has thick brown lateral stripes.

Habitat:

Woodland, fields, meadows, wherever host deciduous trees such as ash, elm, hickory, maple and oak are found. Came to porch light.
