We found this poor bird entangled in a fishing wire in the tree.

Wauw thanks. Thought it was a seagull. Both a shame.
It's a raptor, you can see the talons. I'm willing to bet it's an Osprey (Pandion haliaetus). They love water. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Osprey
