Description:
Pale brownish member of the duck and swan family, recognized by its dark brown patch around the eye and reddish-brown ring around the base of its neck. They are anywhere from 63 to 73 cm in height and have a fairly large wingspan, measuring 38 cm, on average. Males are larger than females but otherwise look alike.
Habitat:
Native to Nile regions of Africa, introduced in Europe, inhabits a wide range of freshwater wetlands. This one was in Brunnsparken in Ronneby, Sweden.
Notes:
Looked like a one legged bird as it stood like this for a while.
