Field Notes

Notes:

Common Bronzewings are heavily built pigeons with beautifully-coloured metallic wing feathers. These shots were taken in the free-flight aviary at Tamworth Marsupial Park. The first three shots are the same specimen (the third shot shows the bird grooming itself). Shots 4 and 5 are another specimen that was playing in a waterfall under a bridge nearby.

Thanks for your comments everyone! LarsKorb - I agree, the most beautiful pigeon I've ever seen. Argybee - Yep, a LOT of bird pics... still more to come, I just ran out of time! : )
lovely pics Shanna!
Surely the most beautiful pigeon I've ever seen. Awesome.
Beautiful photos, Shanna. They do full justice to the bird with those amazing bronze patches - well done !
Amazing how the colours vary across the continent. Lovely shot ShannaB. You've done a lot of birds lately.. uploaded a whole flock I think.
I think the sun was in just the right spot to show up the colours.
