Field Notes

Description:

Caps to about 1.5cm across and fruitbodies 8-9cm tall. Growing in grass next to the track through coniferous area of plantation. The smell was initially a bit shocking and the closest I could compare to was the smell of ozone. I'm not sure what iodine or ammonia smells like. Mycena leptocephala supposedly smells of ozone or ammonia. There didn't seem to be any milk or juice when I broke the stem. M. leptocephala appears to be a common mushroom in the UK by the looks of the nbngateway records; https://data.nbn.org.uk/Taxa/NHMSYS0001490173
