Field Notes

Description:

The caterpillar was about 35 mm long. The soft body was covered with intricate patterns of white lines on black, lateral lines of yellow. The head was a pale bluespeckled with black. The caterpillars true legs were deep red.

Habitat:

Spotted on a myrtle shrub in a national park.

Notes:

The caterpillar is said to feed on 17 species of unrelated plants and is said to be a pest in pine plantations. <br>
