Field Notes

Description:

Small squirrel-like rodent with reddish-brown fur and contrasting dark brown and light brown stripes along their backs.

Habitat:

Deciduous woods, suburban areas and urban parks.

Notes:

This one & 2 others from the same den emerged from hibernation a bit early, I think, as there is still snow on the ground. They were scurrying about looking for food.
