Yes, I can't see it either, but yours has also missing legs ;-)... Viv, I cannot tell you anything more about the wings, but it is not a beetle.

@oxyjack Thank you for your suggestion. I've looked through a lot of images of Tiger Beetles but don't see any that are similar. This beetle was quite big and seems to have a pair of small wings. Can you suggest a reference site please?
