Field Notes

Description:

The under side of the wings is gray-brown with a white line edged with a red-orange band. Each hind wing has two tails (hairstreaks) with an eyespot on the wing between the bases of the tails.

Habitat:

I found this butterfly perched on a wild thistle.

Notes:

Very beautiful butterfly!
