Great spotting! Its always exciting when wildlife will let you get so close.
These birds on this river were not fearful of me or my kayak or other kayakers drifting by. This breeding pair had 3 little ones. I was able to get really close with my kayak (keeping a respectful distance).
These are excellent shots Tanya and a really interesting bird I haven't heard of before. I'm amazed you got so close in the first shot. Feels like you are straight below. Are these birds familiar with kayakers or just generally fearless?
Awesome photographs, Tanya! Would you consider adding them to Florida's Flora & Fauna mission http://www.projectnoah.org/missions/8485612 Thank you!
