Thank you oxyjack..I thought so...he kinda looks like he has a little mouse face!!
It is a beautiful little critter though!
Unfortunately, they are right. My graduate research was on a genus in this Subfamily and the best I can give you is the subfamily. The ID of insects (other than the most common ones) to species will be very difficult on Project Noah because the characters entomologists require to condlfidently ID most species need to be seen under a microscope.
I submitted this to the Bug Guide and a comment was left that it was "impossible to ID without looking at direction of basal pronotal setae and shape of elyral scales. If this specimen was not kept, it will never be confidentally identified." :(
This is not a Stenophorus weevil. This weevil belongs to a different subfamily, the Entiminae, or broad-nosed weevils. Unfortunately, I can't give you its genus.
