Field Notes

Description:

i have 3 trees of this kind in my yard. I am interested in knowing the name.
The leaves are arranged in an alternate leaf arrangement on the stem. The arrangement seems to end in a whorl of leaves. The leaves are simple ,with smooth edges and glossy.
This tree did not show much Senescence.

this one I have narrowed down to western Tamarack. http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/9404864 Uncertain about the cones though.
and Cindy thanks for the wonderful link. The map includes Contra Costa County. I am a resident of Contra Costa County and yes they are declared invasive here too. The Project Noah map always shows my spotting place as Fresno. For whatever reason!!
Argy ,my links are for me and they are pure brain storming only Anything in the notes is to jot down some points which could possibly lead you to an ID.Yup,they are declared a pest here too. Yes Cindy, these are invasive!
I'm a little confused Emma... the links in your notes don't seem to mention this tree? It has become a declared pest here. (native of Taiwan)
Awesome Emma! I see that it's been found in nearby counties but not yours yet. I guess it's spreading! http://www.calflora.org/cgi-bin/species_query.cgi?where-calrecnum=8626
Just in case any Californian is interested, I ID'd this tree as " CamphorTree" aka Cinnamomum camphora.
Elm ,Ash,White Apple,American Linden, etc. Any thing ring a bell? i am trying to ID this tree which is commonly used for landscaping in California.
