I searched for it on PaDIL, it doesn't come up...?
Oh no - I hadn't heard that NatralList. Disastrous!
Thanks Argybee. I use 'sports mode' on my camera - fast shutter speed, continuous shooting mode. I get a lot of shots and most of them are terrible, it takes me ages to go through and pick out the good ones!
I'm amazed at how good your shots are. These little bees seem to have very good vision and can zoom around like lunatics. Well done.
I KNOW Leuba, I was so excited when I saw it!!! I said to my Mum, "I don't care about the other bees, I want THAT one!" I've seen other Blue-banded bees, but this was the bluest one. I'm not sure about the blue or purple flower thing... you might be right though!
Oh Shanna you lucky thing! - when I saw this bee for the first time about 5 years ago in my garden, I thought I was imagining the blue stripes on his back. I then found out what he was...we saw him for the next three years but not recently. I am a little concerned. I never would be able to get a shot of him - well done. I love pic #4 ! He always seemed attracted to blue or purple flowers - is this significant?? Anyway - great spotting !!
