Field Notes

Description:

Black bird with a red and yellow chevron on its wing.

Habitat:

in willows at edge of highway. They are generallly hanging out between 8 and 11am in the same place

Notes:

To get these pictures I have driven along the highway daily looking for a convergence of two quantities: no traffic so I could stop(there is almost no shoulder on this section of road either direction, and the birds actually there

It was a great op. I half pulled over and left my flashers on. I'm hoping for another while they're still sorting out nesting territory and the like
