Field Notes

Description:

Migrating south, large monarch. Wingspan about 4 inches.

Habitat:

Home pollinator garden. Lots of fuchsia cored zinnas.

Notes:

PLEAS AVOID GETTING CLOSE TO NECTARING MONARCHS. THEY NEED THEIR STRENGTH TO GET TO MEXICO FOR BREEDING SEASON.
Large Monarchs, in groups, have been passing through the DFW area following the succession of record setting rainfall. This one is nectaring at 51 degrees F. They are very sensitive to movement and I captured this one at a distance.
