Description:

The first time I ever saw a Bee Fly was just six days ago, in the same general area of our backyard. When I was attempting to identify that one, I was not making much progress until I checked if anyone in Project Noah had posted a similar spotting. When I saw the spotting by AgnesAdiqueTalavera - https://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/18316094... That spotting was excellent and it provided all the information I needed to identify my Bee Fly. However, some of the reference material listed by Agnes was no longer accessible, but she had put so much work into her identification that I felt completely confident in using it for my spotting. So, that is how I came to the scientific name Ligyra cf. doryca. Thank you, Agnes.

Habitat:

This Bee Fly was spotted on the ground in our backyard It appeared to be sipping the soil.
