Field Notes

Description:

The mother watching over her three young. Two are pictured here on separate limbs, the third was too far and covered for my camera to reach. I have been watching them grow for the past two weeks. They will likely be gone from the nesting site in a week or so. They are taking practice flights jumping around on the limbs. What an exhilarating sighting!

Habitat:

Hardwood hammock near wetlands.

What great pictures! Look at those babies!!! I'm so jealous! The two nesting GH owls near my house had their nest destroyed by wind before the babies ever hatched. The parents are still in the area, but I don't think they will try to nest again this year! Great pics, keep'em coming!
