Field Notes

Description:

Brown with one biggish eyespot and 5-6 smaller ones. This is the wet season form.

Habitat:

On the Office wall. It was drawn to the tubelight. Spotted it as I was leaving for the day...it meant aiming the camera at the tubelight ...thought I'd try my luck next day in natural light. I came back todayto find a well-fed house gecko lurking there and no butterfly.

Notes:

It has a dry season form too...which is quite different, with orange patches and all.

And even the wet season form may look quite different: http://www.ifoundbutterflies.org/427-melanitis/melanitis-leda
