Habitat:

In the banks along the steep road into Waipio Valley on windward Big Island Hawaii.

Notes:

Such a white mushroom! It was interesting to find specimens in all the different stages of development emerging from the earth and then almost dead, within view of each other.

These are deadly poisonous and only a bite of the cap could be fatal to an adult.

Thanks, I have researched "Mushrooms of Hawaii" and decided on Amanita marmorata subsp myrtacearum. There are lots of Casuarina trees in this area and it says Amanita marmorata are mycorrhizal with these Australian pines.
